Michael Caines’ two Michelin-starred Gidleigh Park restaurant in Devon, won the Remy Martin XO Excellence Award for the UK's best all-round restaurant, in the Harden's Restaurant Survey 2011.

Michael is one of Britain’s most acclaimed chefs. At Gidleigh Park, where he was at the helm for 21 years, he earned and held two Michelin stars.

Amongst numerous other accolades, Michael has cooked in 10 Downing Street for the Prime Minister, was awarded AA Chef’s Chef of the Year in 2007, and received an MBE in 2006 for services to the hospitality industry.


Michael has more recently opened his own contemporary country house hotel, Lympstone Manor, overlooking the Exe Estuary, which he fondly describes as the ‘realisation of my dreams’.

Michael will be dropping in to launch the festival on Friday 23rd August and will cast his magic at the Gala Dinner.

Mr Caines, who lost his right arm in a car accident 25 years ago, was the protégé of renowned chef Raymond Blanc and he was awarded an MBE for services to the hospitality industry in 2006.
