James Martin

James is a regular at Bolton Food and Drink Festival and will notch up his tenth appearance at this year’s event.

Hailing from Yorkshire, he has a passion for proper British food and fast cars. He worked in professional kitchens from the age of 10 and at the age of 11, he cooked for the Queen Mother.

James was a regular chef on Ready Steady Cook (BBC2), and went on to present BBC1’s hit series Saturday Kitchen for 10 years, regularly attracting viewers in excess of 3.5 million. His brand new series ‘James Martin’s American Adventure’ started on ITV this year. 

James’ career began at Castle Howard where his father ran the catering and James often helped out. In 2012, James opened his restaurant inside The Talbot, in North Yorkshire. The restaurant was placed in the Michelin Guide in 2012. James Martin Manchester opened in September 2013 inside the Manchester235 Casino.

In 2016, James partnered with Asda supermarket, won Good Housekeeping Food Awards ‘Favourite Celebrity Chef’, and he also toured the UK with his first show ‘Plates, Mates and Automobiles’ to great success. In 2017, James is the author of 18 cook books and his latest title ‘James Martin’s French Adventure’ was published in February 2017.

James will be bringing his usual charm to this year’s festival and as an extra special treat, to celebrate his tenth appearance, everybody in the audience gets a slice of cake!  Don’t forget you can purchase a premium ticket for these demo’s which includes seating near the front and a souvenir festival martini glass.
