Yes, there are! There are free cookery demonstrations taking place at Bolton Market on Ashburner Street on Friday and Saturday.

Each year we aim to bring a great line up of some of the region’s finest established and up and coming chefs, and 2018 promises to be no different. The full running order will be available online once all our chefs are confirmed.

You can buy your tickets online following the links from www.boltonfoodanddrinkfestival.com, in person from the box office at the Central Library (Saturdays only), or via the telephone booking line 0843 208 0500.

Please note children over the age of 2 years will need their own ticket, there is a discounted price at each event (excluding over 18s only events). We are also able to offer concessions for carers, please ask at time of booking.

For Saturday Brunch, Afternoon Tea and Sunday Club we would ask that you let us know at the time of booking if you have any specific dietary requirements. We are able to offer vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, nut free and halal options for the Afternoon Tea.

Please be aware on any other option other than nut free, we cannot guarantee that our suppliers have been able to prepare the food in a nut free environment.

The main marquee is laid out with round tables, each of which will have eight (8) numbered seats You will be able to book seats at specific round tables, so that you know before arrival where you will be sitting and we can help direct you to your table easily when you arrive.

Please advise us at time of booking if you have any mobility issues so that we can help you select the best seat for your requirements.

The price levels for tickets vary depending up on the type of demonstration and location, e.g. there is a higher price for the Beer and Pasty demonstration, the Afternoon Tea and the Saturday Brunch as the ticket prices include either food and / or drink samples or full meal.

This year again at James Martin’s cookery demonstrations we are offering a limited number of Premium seats, these include front row tables and a special gift, complete with James’ signature. (A specially commissioned, boxed martini glass, with James signature embossed on it). Please note that everyone attending James’ demos will be given a small treat to celebrate his 10th appearance!

The celebrity chef marquee is wheelchair friendly and accessed via ramps. There is confirmed space for up to four wheelchair users per cookery demonstration but please talk to a member of the team (at the time of booking) so that we can ensure you and your party are seated together. If a member of your party has mobility issues please do advise staff at the time of booking in order that provision can be made where possible.

No special facilities are available for customers who are hard of hearing or visually impaired.

Bolton Market is fully wheelchair friendly and accessed via ramps.

Group tickets can reserved for each of the demonstrations on a first come, first served basis via the online booking system. We are able to offer FREE coach parking in Bolton town centre for groups visiting the festival. For more details call Bolton Council’s Tourism line on 01204 336167 or email tourism@bolton.gov.uk

FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT

There’s some fantastic family friendly entertainment planned this year!

Stone Soup – Little Diamond Theatre Company

Each year we work to bring our younger audiences an experience to remember, and we all know how kids like to be entertained, so this year we have an amazing, magical theatre show produced by our friends at the Little Diamond Theatre Company. Set in our new home, the Albert Halls, children will go on a journey through the building when they are greeted by the characters from the show and led to do some craft activities before taking a seat for the captivating, interactive show ‘Stone Soup’. This is a fantastic, enchanting story – complete with colourful characters and toe tapping music – with the underlying themes of sharing and caring. Tickets are just £5 Child, £2.50 Adult (please note all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult).

Bolton Library and Museum

There’s a bumper package of kid friendly activities each day being delivered by the team from the Library and Museum Service too. Please note, due to work taking place in the main museum, this year’s activities are located in the Market Place Shopping Centre from 10am daily. Full listings will be available online.

Stone Soup is suitable for children from 2 years upwards, and will involve participation (so younger children will need to be assisted by an adult).

Please remember: All children will need to have a responsible adult present.

Yes – the Albert Halls has wheelchair access. As always please do let us know at the time of booking of any issues and let a member of the onsite staff know too so that we can ensure a great experience for everyone in your party.

This year there is a full programme of music and entertainment planned, with the return of our popular main bar and stage on Le Mans Crescent and the real Ale and Cider bar on Victoria Square. Full event listings and timings will be available online and will also be printed within the main festival guide (the most up to date listings will always be online, any changes to the line- up will be messaged via our social media channels – facebook / twitter / Instagram).

Over the weekend keep your eyes peeled for some fantastic street entertainment too, with comedy acts and mime artists there’s sure to be someone or something (!) to catch the eye. (We’ll upload details of our daily entertainment programme and where the acts can be found on to the website www.boltonfoodanddrinkfestival.com).
