Festival Cake-Off

We love Bolton because... we want cake!

Following the successful launch of our first ever cake decorating competition in 2018 we’re delighted that this year it’s back and better than ever. We’ve got a strong focus on family involvement and a keen interest in giving budding bakers a platform to kick start their hobby or even potential career, so want everyone to get involved.

This year’s competition takes its inspiration from the new ‘This is Bolton’ campaign (launched on 20th May) which is asking everyone in Bolton to shout about what they love about our great town. So bakers, young and old, are invited to create a cake that demonstrates their love of Bolton in a fun and quirky way! The cake needs to be a true celebration of what makes Bolton so special, be it our fantastic history, great outdoor spaces or wonderful culture the choice is yours – just make it great! To help you along the way we’re asking that your cake focusses on one of the following themes:

a) Family and community

b) Famous Boltonians

c) The great outdoors

d) Culture vultures – theatres, museums, historic halls

e) Sporting Greats

The competition will have two judges – Rose Cake Diva and Kay Gajra (Kaykes) both respected cake artists in their own right and friends of the festival, along with key representatives from our sponsor companies and Bolton Council.

The cake must be fully edible and on a cake board no bigger than 12″x12″ (ingredients to be listed and should include elements from Aldi – headline sponsor).

The cakes can be entered into one of three categories: beginner, novice and professional.

Prizes will be given to the winner and runner up of each category.
